In New Project Veritas Video, Raphael Warnock Staffers Reveal Candidate Wants to Defund Police

U.S. Senate candidate Raphael Warnock wants to defund the police, even though he hides his beliefs from Georgia voters, according to a video that members of Project Veritas released Monday.

Two Warnock campaign staff members shared what they said were Warnock’s true thoughts and feelings with an undercover Project Veritas reporter.

Warnock campaign finance assistant Derrick Bhole told the unidentified Project Veritas reporter that Warnock refrains from saying “defund the police” for fear it might scare voters.

“He avoids using ‘Defund the Police’ because he knows that the Republicans are going to try to grab onto it and attack, right?” Bhole said.

“But in reality his whole platform with police reform is along the lines of the same people who are saying ‘Defund the Police,’ but just not using the same rhetoric, you know?”

Sasha Williams, who directs Small Business Engagement for Warnock’s campaign, said on the video that “police officers are not all good.”

“Most of them are bad. We know that,” Williams said before also saying that Warnock wants to defund the police.

As reported, U.S. Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) and U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), are on the January 5, 2021 ballot for the U.S. Senate against Democrat Jon Ossoff and Warnock, respectively.

As reported last month, per a New York Times article, Joe Biden doesn’t want civil rights leaders to discuss defunding the police until after the Georgia U.S. Senate runoffs have concluded. This, for fear that such rhetoric will scare off Georgia voters and prevent Democrats from controlling the U.S. Senate.

The New York Times reported that Biden said the following:

“I also don’t think we should get too far ahead of ourselves on dealing with police reform in that, because they’ve already labeled us as being ‘defund the police’…Anything we put forward in terms of the organizational structure to change policing — which I promise you, will occur. Promise you. Just think to yourself and give me advice whether we should do that before Jan. 5.”

Also as reported, various Georgia sheriffs said at a press conference last month that they don’t want voters to send Democrats to the U.S. Senate to boost Joe Biden’s agenda. This, they said, because the party embraces ‘Defund the Police’ rhetoric.
